The Divine Speaks

“The divine speaks itself into being with its own rich poetry, and as we learn the language, our own lives grow increasingly responsive to the mysterious and beautiful patterns that begin to unfold.”

Cynthia Bourgeault, The Wisdom Way of Knowing

One of the challenges of the past few months - and a challenge that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon - is how to be engaged with the affairs of the world - with the continual unfolding of the COVID-19 (especially given the lack of effective leadership here in America) - the continual unfolding of the structural problems of racism and White Supremacy - AND staying grounded in ourselves. It’s a balancing act to attend to our inner lives and our outer lives in such a waythat both get the attention that they deserve.

And even for the struggle - and even for the balancing act, the divine speaks. The divine is revealed in simple gestures of opening. A flower seeking sunlight. A friend seeking connection. An idea seeking expression.

How is the divine speaking itself into being for us today? How are we being invited into the dance of unfolding?
